Visit to the State Library of NSW

The NSW Branch of Australiana held on the 1st May and sell out full day event at the State Library of NSW.

We visited;

The Charles Rodius exhibition and marvelled at two recently purchased images by the Library, one of which has not been seen by the public before.

They Made Them a Long Time Ago – first nations art, tools and weapons taken from country and believed to be mainly from the Sydney basin area.

Shot – the new photographic gallery which provides a glimpse into the extensive collection held by the Library.

Visited the grand and beautiful picture gallery.

After lunch we spent a considerable time in the “Stacks” the many floors of storage below ground exploring the delights of what is in storage.

Thank you to the 5 curators who took us through each section of the State Library and shared their knowledge, love and passion for this extraordinary collection in Macquarie Street Sydney. A brilliant day!
